St. Patrick’s Day
Very little is known about Saint Patrick. It’s believed that
he was born in roman Britain in the fourth century, into a wealthy
romano-british family. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders
and taken as a slave to Gaelic Ireland. He spent six years working as a
shepherd and that he “found god”. And told him to flee to a ship that would
take him home and once he was home he became a priest.
On the 17 of March is the traditional death date of Saint Patrick.
Because it falls on a holy week.
On St Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and or
green clothing or accessories (the “wearing or the green”). It is to explain
the holy trinity to the pagan Irish.
